Amazing shadows

Blink the dark and silence the nightingale.
Two turns on that apology.
Cut the veins of the ghosts and watch them bleed.
Where did you go?
What is that running down your face?
Claustrophobic thoughts of freedom.
Suffocate lungs all drenched in oil.
Such luminous reflections tiptoe across your eyes.
We measure the umbrage that dapples our fears.
From the tree we wish to burn.
Amazing shadows, holding hands into tomorrow.
Making us strangers again.

  1. Really enjoyed that Mark. Some great lines in there, especially liked: Cut the veins of the ghosts and watch them bleed.
Where did you go?
It’s describing something gruesome, but something that is impossible, but it must’ve happened because you were with someone who’s no longer there. Was there an event that inspired that? Good work

    • Thank you, glad you liked it. I like the metaphor of ghosts, they symbolise so much but for my they usually represent the past. There isn’t a specific event that triggered this, usually just a looking back on trauma and tantalized moments. Much of my work is a combination without any real linear time line. I find/hope it becomes relatable to those who read it. What would ghosts bleed though?
